Request from Thelma - does anyone use recycled materials to make sculpture? Let her know, please.

The Easel

I am looking forward to the launch of The Easel this month. Have you contributed something?

Hello. I'm back!

It seems like a long time ago that I was last here. In fact, it was a long time ago... The Summer has arrived and almost gone; vestiges remain to tease us. I spent this afternoon sorting frames for friends and I need to get some of my recently completed pieces under glass as soon as I have taken the photographs. We need to support Ailsa as she prepares our first on-line newsletter. I had better get something ready for her asap. I was unable to attend last month's demo. (away on holiday) but I expect to see you all next Friday at Shortlands.

Re. Phishing

Hi, everybody. We are in the UK. We have not visited the Philipines. We have not been out of the UK since 2004. If you get emails purporting to be from me requesting help, DO NOT RESPOND. Our service provider has made my computer safe again.

As Allan says, Frames and Art, the excellent framers near the cinema in Bromley are going to sell art materials. They would like to know what our members would like them to sell. They are likely to start with Daler-Rowney plus whatever is in demand. What's your favourite make/product? Favourite watercolour paper? Good lines in pens and pencils? Best brushes? They can't stock everything but as BAS members themselves they would like to respond to your needs - And don't forget, their framing is excellent and if you produce your BAS card you get the discount.

Exhibition

Ken Murray reports that his students have an exhibition at the Framing shop near the cinema in Bromley at the end of this month. The big news is that the shop will be selling art materials! Yippee! The quality of framing is second to none, by the way. I know because I have seen Fabricio's work.

Superb teaching skills and awake students made for another super experience this evening. Gratitude abounds.

Dali

Entertainment in full measure with more than enough about Dali to have us all looking at his works with different eyes (now there's scope for something surreal for us to meditate upon). A wonderful evening and The Slinn presentation of a chap who spent a lot of time painting dusky maidens will be just right for the sixth formers among us. By the way, I spend a lot of time being an eighteen year old! (I am sorry for the earlier typing error.)

Wrotham Arts Festival

It has been and gone! If you missed it, you missed a treat. Derek and I had a great show with some of our pieces now hanging in new homes. In two years time we will be there again for sure, God willing. What about you?
