Studio Session Profiles

Andrew Conrad

After some meager art tuition at school I decided to be an architect to blend both ‘art’ and ‘tech’ interests.

The foundation course at Brighton College of Art and Crafts convinced me that I made the best choice. I learnt to sketch designs and render them in watercolour, as well as technical drawing for construction. These skills were the cornerstones of my career in three dimensional space and form.

After graduation I worked in several atelier before founding my own practice specialising in acoustics. Latterly also as a visiting lecturer teaching architectural undergraduates computer-aided-design (CAD).

After retiring from professional life I now pursue my interest in arts and crafts by drawing and painting to develop two dimensional skills and ideas new to me. I am finding art limitless and its pursuit endless.

My abiding interests are now discovering the many fresh aspects of colour, texture and two dimensional forms.

The Bromley Arts Society drop-in studio is an environmental of similar minded people practising their own ideas and art techniques in an informal atmosphere of shared and mutual endeavour.
