Let the old masters be an inspiration for our Art Matters this Friday. Be it your own modern day interpretation of a “Grand” portrait following the style of Joshua Reynolds or the Triptych presentation of your favourite scene.

“I thought we would go with Art Works inspired by two very different figure based Old Master paintings
Option 1 Portrait of Omai – I guess we are likely to hear more about this painting as the NPG tries to raise the funds to keep him in the country –
Or Option 2 The Merode Altarpiece. Discovered in a book about the history and meaning of Triptychs
So we challenge you to create an art work inspired by the paintings –
It could be a study of one of the figures? A modern reinterpretation? A collage? Triptychs are fun to make and can be as simple as card and masking tape or even folded card.
As usual you are very welcome to come along on the night even if you haven’t done your homework! But I hope that you will feel inspired to try something out…”
