Monthly Meeting Live Demonstration by by Mel Cambridge – Oil painting – further details later

Mel always painted since childhood and by the age of 14 was using oil colours. I love the buttery texture and tactile nature of oil paint, the way you can move it around, scrape off and keep inspiration flowing.

Her main artistic influences come from nature, particularly the English Coastline and the open Downland near to her home. Both places have such wide open spaces and big skies. Light, colour and atmosphere are inspirational – even an empty beach, if there are interesting cloud formations can be the starting point for a painting.

Tue 9 Sep – Monthly Meeting – Live Interactive Demonstration by Nishad Karim on Watercolour

Tuesday 9 September – St Georges Church Hall 19:30 – 21:30

Nishad is an established professional artist with many exhibitions to his credit and has produced online painting tutorials and demonstrations on several subjects and painting media.

“‘In painting landscapes with a loose but realistic style I attempt to convey to the viewer a sense of presence, enjoyment and ‘seeing’ a particular scene. Nature has its own way of creating the most beautiful patterns and sceneries and landscape painting for me evokes a sense of mystery, fragility and an understanding of the natural environment. The way form emerges from light and the effect light has on colour and mood is all quite intriguing.”

Tue 10 Jun – Monthly Meeting – Live Demonstration by Fiona Hooper – Landscapes in oils

Tue 10 Jun 25 7pm at St Georges Church Hall, Bickley, BR1 2BE

Fiona Hooper works mainly in oil, but also uses acrylic, mixed media and coloured pencil. Her subject matter centres on landscapes and modern still life, often completed using a painting knife, with an emphasis on the effects of light and capturing the essence of the subject. Glass is a particular favourite subject and appears in several of her recent still life paintings. Her landscapes are very often painted ‘en plein air’, in diverse locations including Surrey, Sussex, Norfolk and Venice.

As well as exhibiting and selling her work both in the UK and abroad (including at the Mall Galleries, the Llewellyn Alexander Gallery in London, the Landmark Art Fairs at Teddington, the Corner Gallery at Carshalton Beeches, the Kingston Artists Group, the Musical Museum at Kew Bridge and many other venues), Fiona is a well established portrait artist, having completed many commissions including people, dogs, cats, horses, and other animals.

Tue 13 May – Monthly Meeting Live Demonstration by Alison Saunders – Abstract Painting in Oils and Acrylics

Monthly Meeting Live Demonstration by Alison Saunders – Abstract painting in oils and acrylics – further details later

I just love colour.

In my world, colour is not only a visual sensation; it is a language of emotions which resonates with my soul. I also employ circles to represent hugs which we all need. Circles are more than just shapes for me, they are embraces, visual manifestations of the warmth, love and tenderness we share. A hug!

Working with acrylic paint creating art is my way of breathing life into feelings and expressing love, joy and the myriad of emotions which shape our very existence.

I use my work to represent and celebrate the beauty in human experience.

My inspiration comes from a desire to bring joy into my life and those around me. Nature, emotions, music and the timeless beauty of Pre-Raphaelite art inspire me to create pieces that resonate with a sense of ethereal connection.

April 28 – May 1 – Bromley Art Society at the Clove Building Exhibition

“Images of Spring”

Members were invited to put their works of art forward for a small exhibition in the foyer at the Clove Building in London near Tower Bridge. I am pleased to announce we have eight successful artists exhibiting there from 11am Monday 28th April until 4pm Friday 9th May. The address is 4 Maguire Street, London SE1 2NQ if you would like to visit. It is the first time we have ventured into exhibiting in a city location and if successful there are more exciting prime locations potentially available to us including the grade 2 listed building, Hamilton House on the Victoria Embankment. These venues benefit primarily not from passing footfall but from the prestigious internal occupants, their clients and visiting families.

There is a “Meet the Artist at lunchtime” from 12 noon until 2pm on Thursday 1st May held at the Clove Foyer”
