Sip & Paint – Autumn Term 2026

Weekly from Tuesday 15th September 19:00 – 21:00

(excluding first Tuesday of the month)

St Georges Church Hall, Bickley, BR1 2BE

Led by experienced art tutor Nishad Karim, these weekly sessions are designed to be fun, sociable, and entirely guided by you. Rather than following a rigid syllabus, you are the architect of your own progress. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned artist, Nishad will be on hand to help you realize your specific artistic aspirations in a relaxed, creative environment.

When & Where: The sessions will be held every Tuesday evening (7pm – 9pm)  (excepting the first Tuesday of the Month) until 15th December – 11 sessions in all. Starting 15th September, hosted in the spacious St Georges Church Hall with ample parking at the St Georges Road entrance of the church and on local side roads. Served by local bus routes via the Bickley Park Road / St George’s Church stops (including routes 162 and 269).

This term, Sip & Paint will meet these Tuesdays:

  • 15th, 22nd, 29th September
  • 13th, 20th, 27th October
  • 10th, 17th, 24th November
  • 8th 15th December

The Investment: The cost for an autumn term is £195 for non members (Existing members pay £185). This works out to just £16 per week—exceptional value that includes:

  • Professional tuition and guidance.
  • Complimentary wine, tea or coffee to enjoy while you create.
  • A warm, friendly atmosphere to meet fellow art lovers.

Other options (although we encourage signup to the full term):

  • Pay Monthy for the calendar month – £65 members and non-members
  • Drop in session – £25 per session members and non-members
  • One off taster session – FREE!! ( come and see if you like us)

Added Bonus: If you aren’t already a member of the Bromley Art Society, signing up for these sessions grants you membership through to the end of the year! You’ll gain full access to our calendar of activities, events, and exhibitions.

By the end of the term, you’ll have sharpened your skills, created new work, and made a wonderful circle of friends.

Fri 25 Sept – Online Zoom Art Matters – Exploring the Artist “ Whistler “ with Deborah Masters

We are pleased to announce an online “Art Matters” discussion of the artist Whistler, lead by Deborah Masters.

Following on from our recent David Hockney themed Art Matters we would like to invite you to participate in a James McNeill Whistler evening. Like Hockney, an Artist whose work covers a number of different styles, subjects and mediums – including London at night.
You could copy a work to see what it tells you, create a new work in the style of or inspired by. Sharing will be low tech – hold it up to the screen.
Alternatively you may have visited the current Tate exhibition and wish to share your experience or just to investigate some more about him and share your findings.
www.tate.org has some interesting posts about him – including a video about how he painted with “sauce”. You’ll need to watch it to find out more…

Tue 9 Sep – Monthly Meeting – Live Interactive Demonstration by Nishad Karim on Watercolour Techniques

Nishad is an established professional artist with many exhibitions to his credit and has produced online painting tutorials and demonstrations on several subjects and painting media.

“‘In painting landscapes with a loose but realistic style I attempt to convey to the viewer a sense of presence, enjoyment and ‘seeing’ a particular scene. Nature has its own way of creating the most beautiful patterns and sceneries and landscape painting for me evokes a sense of mystery, fragility and an understanding of the natural environment. The way form emerges from light and the effect light has on colour and mood is all quite intriguing.”
